The Hong Kong Society for the Blind and Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited were granted the “Happiness-at-work Label 2015” for their efforts at enhancing the happiness-at-work level for the staff in Happiness-at-work Promotional Scheme, which was collaboratively launched by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Promoting Happiness Index Foundation.   The Health Massage and Treatment Centre and Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited operated by the Hong Kong Society for the Blind were recognized by Social Welfare Department as Caring Enterprise and Outstanding Enterprise, so as to commend their contributions to employment of persons with disabilities.   The Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited achieved a Gold Award in Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme 2015, which was jointly organized by Office of Government Chief Information Officer and the Equal Opportunities Commission. This was to recognize its efforts at adopting effective accessibility designs in their websites and facilitating access of everyone.

“The Touchable Colours” designed by the elderly from the Kowloon Home for the Aged Blind was awarded “Merit Award” in Youreable Fashion Design 2015, which was a fashion design activity organized by the Troels H Povlsen Care Apparel Centre (CAC) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).   The Jockey Club Tuen Mun Home for the Aged Blind was awarded The 7th ERB Outstanding Award for Employers so as to praise their efforts at shouldering Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Hong Kong Society for the Blind and Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited were awarded Advanced Partner Employer Award and Partner Employer Award respectively, which were granted by The Hong Kong General Chamber of Small and Medium Business, so as to commend their efforts at promoting the corporate social responsibilities and building an inclusive and harmonious society.   Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited and Health Massage and Treatment Centre operated by The Hong Kong Society for the Blind were endorsed by Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises as having demonstrated its competence to operate and manage its business in accordance with the nest practice requirements of social enterprise in the category of intermediate and advanced respectively.

The Hong Kong Society for the Blind, Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited, SK Yee Health Massage and Treatment Centre and Bernard van Zuiden Health Massage and Treatment Centre were awarded "18 Districts Caring Employers 2014" organized by Labour and Welfare Bureau, Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, Joint Council for the Physically and Mentally Disabled Hong Kong and Hong Kong Council of Social Service. This is to commend their efforts at building an inclusive and harmonious society by promoting employment of people with disabilities.   “Consumption Experience" submitted by our Rehabilitation Centre gained high regard from the adjudicators and being awarded the Golden Award for 2013-14, which was granted by Consumer Council. Besides, “Our rights to pursue” and “Utopian shopping environment”, which were also from our Rehabilitation Centre, were granted “Outstanding Report and Title Award” and “Best Report and Outstanding Title Award” respectively.

Best Practice Award in Social Welfare

Throughout the years, the social welfare sector has accumulated valuable experience in rendering timely, responsive and effective services to meet community needs. By presenting the Awards, we hope to salute and encourage best practices, demonstrate the contribution of social welfare to the well-being of the society, and to encourage mutual learning within the sector. From 2003 onwards, every two years, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service organized the Awards to give recognition to good practice, promote public awareness of the contribution of the welfare sector and enhance cross-service professional exchange and sharing of experiences.

"Audio Description Services for the Visually Impaired" developed by Information Accessibility Centre has won the 2013 Best Practice Award in Social Welfare - Social Responsiveness Award.   “Innovative Sensory Therapeutic Programme for Dementia with Visual Impairment” developed by The Dementia Care Service Team of the HKSB has won the “2009 Best Practice Award in Social Welfare”.

The Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) is an international Awards Program initiated by the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia. The objective is to provide recognition to outstanding achievements of individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organizations in ICT.

2008 Asia Pacific ICT Alliances (APICTA)

The "Tele-digital Library for the Visually Impaired" ICT project has won the merit under the theme, e-Inclusion and e-Community among 9 entries from five economies (cities or countries) in the Asia Pacific Information Communications Technology 2008 (APICTA 2008) in Jakarta, Indonesia in November 2008.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards

The Hong Kong ICT Awards recognize, promote and commend the excellent achievements to which Hong Kong ICT professionals and organisations contribute. The Awards also encourage local practitioners to develop innovative and creative ICT solutions, which will uplift the image of Hong Kong ICT sectors, both locally and internationally.
The Awards are coordinated and administered by an Organizing Committee, chaired by the Government Chief Information Officer with members from the industry, the academia and the Government.

Central Braille Production Centre Won a Hong Kong ICT Awards 2008 for its Brialle E-book Reservation System.   IAC won five Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007 for its four projects: Tele-Digital Library for the Visually Impaired, Computer Support Helpdesk, Netshare for the Blind and Scan to Light.
