The Hong Kong Society for the Blind is deeply indebted to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for the generosity and support provided to set up a 3-year programme of Jockey Club Experiential Sports Programme for the Visually Impaired.

We believe sports is conducive to a healthy lifestyle which is beneficial to our mental health and social life. A variety of sports experiences, training courses, workshops and sharing sessions will be organized for the visually impaired to participate in sports and develop the habit of doing regular exercises, thereby building a sports culture in their daily life.

A sailing training was taken place on 19 November 2023 kicking off the Jockey Club Experiential Sports Programme for the Visually Impaired. 20 service users and 13 volunteers from the Morning Glory Day Activity Centre cum Hostel participated in the training. During the training, participants tried to control the sailing boat and drive in the sea wind with the assistance of the volunteers as well as feeling the warm sunshine. The spirit of “we can overcome” was strongly shown.
