2015 Volunteers, Donors cum Corporate Partners Appreciation Ceremony

540 volunteers, contributing 54,488 hours of selfless volunteer service to the visually impaired

Established in 1956, The Hong Kong Society for the Blind (HKSB) aims to provide a wide range and comprehensive services for the visually impaired persons. Our staff from top to bottom carry out the mission to serve the visually impaired; while volunteers and donors give a powerful force to support us to deliver the service! Volunteers and donors selflessly dedicate to the service of sustainable development and power for innovation.

HKSB held its biennial “Volunteers, Donors cum Corporate Partners Appreciation Ceremony” on 8 May 2015. From 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2014, 840 individual volunteers and more than 100 volunteer groups had registered to do voluntary work in our 13 service departments. The total number of service hours of the 315 awarded volunteer units added up to 39,000 hours. In addition, 11 business companies and organizations were given an appreciation award for being our corporate partners in encouraging volunteer work, supporting the employment of the vulnerable and instilling knowledge and technology to the visually impaired or made a donation. A total of 310 individual volunteers provided more than 50 to 400 hours of volunteer service, while five volunteer groups gave more than 100 to 800 hours of volunteer service to us in the past two years and are eligible for receiving a recognition at the ceremony. For Donors, 32 groups and 76 individuals got the Generous Giving Angel Award; and 18 groups and 30 individuals received the Long-term Giving Awards.
