"Music in Darkness 2015 :singing contest for visually impaired person in Hong Kong"
Supported by the Lions Club of Tuen Mun, the "Music in Darkness 2015: singing contest for visually impaired persons in Hong Kong" was held to arouse public awareness of the singing talents of the visually impaired and the daily difficulties faced by the visually impaired persons through the experiential interactive games organized on the day of the final contest, to promote social harmony.
The Final Contest cum Award Presentation Ceremony was held successfully on 25 April 2015 at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Shatin) with about five hundred audience. A number of pop singers and bands gave performance together with visually impaired artists, including Ms Takki Wong, Mr Rayan Lau, DSU, the 3Think, SIS and visually impaired artists Mr Lee Hin, Mr Lee Sing, Ms Judy Tong, Ms Chiu Wei Chi and the Happy Lutheran Band. Some audience wore eye masks provided by the organizer to enjoy the music in darkness. The Final contest was divided into solo and groups. There were eight solo contestants and five group contestants. The contestants tried their very best to show their skills and talents. Finally, Ms Shum Yen Ping won the solo champion, while Ms Cindy Tsui Yee Wah and Ms Choi Lok Sze won the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. Group champion went to Ms Flora Fung Kai Tuen and Mr Ho Ching Yat. Group first runner-up went to Ms Cindy Tsui Yee Wah and Ms Samrid Wongchan and second runner-up went to Ms Tang Yuen Mei and Mr Wan Siu Leung.
Before the final contest, school students and youngsters living in Shatin were invited to participate in the experiential games with their family members to experience the daily difficulties faced by the visually impaired persons. In addition, there was free admission to the “Maze of Darkness” offered to the participants to explore the environment by smell and other senses to feel about the daily life hurdles faced by the visually impaired.
