The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Family Resource Centre for Visually Impaired 25th Anniversary Party cum Summer Variety Show

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Family Resource Centre for Visually Impaired, the 25th Anniversary Party cum Summer Variety Show was successfully held on 13 August 2023 at Tung Po of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Members, supporters and volunteers gathered to share and recall the growth of the Centre in last 25 years! It was our great honour to invite Ms. Nelly Li, Senior Manager, Charities of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr. Edward Kwok, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant:  Family Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired, Miss Nancy Law, Chairman of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind and Ms. Maureen Tam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, to officiate the lighting ceremony. Miss Law and Mr. Kwok presented certificates of appreciation to Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation, the title sponsor of the Extra-curricular Activities Subsidy Scheme for Visually Impaired Student, as well as the Zonta Club of Hong Kong East, the sponsor of the Visually Impaired Student Scholarship, for their support for visually impaired students to participate in various extra-curricular activities over the years.

The event included art exhibitions showcasing different artworks by visually impaired children, teenagers and parents, as well as performances by African drums and choir of "Singing & Drumming Fun Together", dancing, magic, piano and flute playing. The grand finale performance was performed by the special guest -  Mr. Ma Wai Tim, Principal Suona of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. He also performed "Horse Race" with Mr. Yang Enhua, the talented visually impaired erhu player, which reached the climax of the entire event!

The Centre will continue to strive to provide quality services to visually impaired children, youth and their families, marking a more exciting 25 years to come!
