To assist Hong Kong’s visually impaired community in pursuing future development in Chinese mainland, HKSB is committed to enhancing the professional capacity of staff in promoting information accessibility and Chinese Common Braille. Building on our earlier Chinese Common Braille training programme in Beijing, we have further rolled out related internal training activities. In February 2026, we arranged for our staff to participate in “LEGO Training of Chinese Common Braille”—so that our staff can learn more about Chinese Common Braille.

Delivered via an online platform, the programme enabled staff to participate without geographical constraints. The training covered foundational concepts and basic symbol correspondence of Chinese Common Braille. Using LEGO Braille building blocks, staff engaged in step by step practice, learning fundamental assembly and layout principles, and developing skills in identifying, constructing and applying Braille content.

The training covers key components of learning Chinese Common Braille, including foundational concepts and basic letter or symbol correspondence. In addition, the course provides guided exercises to help staff build correct understanding and tactile familiarity through interactive learning. Through online lessons and practice tasks, staff gradually consolidate the theoretical foundations of beginner-level Braille knowledge, and learn how to apply LEGO Training of Chinese Common Braille in future activities and internal teaching. This supports ongoing professional growth and creates a sustainable cycle of knowledge development.

Through this training, we expect to continue promoting Chinese Common Braille literacy and advancing information accessibility, while strengthening cross-border and cross-sector exchange and collaboration—so as to provide Hong Kong’s people with visual impairments with more comprehensive and higher-quality support services.
