HKSB 70th Anniversary - World Cultural Heritage Exhibition Promotes Chinese Common Braille, Bridging Cultural Connections Between the Two Regions

In celebration of 70th Anniversary, HKSB specially invited the China Braille Press to co-organize the World Cultural Heritage Exhibition in July. The Chairman and Chief Executive of HKSB, together with distinguished guests—including Mr. Ho Kai-ming, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the HKSAR Government, Ms. Linda Lam Mei-sau, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission, and Ms. Chan Lok-tung, Assistant District Officer (Sham Shui Po), Mr. Lai Wei, Party Secretary of the China Braille Press and Mr. Zou Jian, representative of the Department of Social Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR—officiated the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Mr. Sean Fong, Chief Executive of HKSB, stated that the World Heritage Cultural Exhibition utilizes 3D architectural models to enable the visually impaired to explore the 'Beijing Central Axis', a World Heritage site, truly embodying the belief that cultural heritage knows no boundaries. During the opening ceremony, HKSB also signed a cooperation agreement with the China Braille Press to jointly promote the popularization and application of Chinese Common Braille in Hong Kong.

The exhibition is open to all primary and secondary schools as well as the general public from 2 July to 31 July 2026. It aims to promote 'touch-reading' culture and Braille, enhance public awareness of visually impaired, and foster a harmonious and inclusive community together. Promoting the popularization of Chinese Common Braille in Hong Kong marks not only a major milestone in bridging the Braille differences between the two regions, but also facilitates future opportunities for Hong Kong's visually impaired to pursue education, employment, and cultural exchanges in the Chinese Mainland.
