HKSB Celebrates 70th Anniversary with “70 Years Journey of Light and Care” Mobile Truck Exhibition
The Year of 2026 marks the 70th Anniversary of The Hong Kong Society for the Blind, a meaningful milestone that reflects seven decades of dedicated service to the community. To celebrate this special occasion, we planned a series of commemorative events to share this joyful moment with the public. As the opening highlight of the anniversary celebrations, the “70 Years Journey of Light and Care” Mobile Truck Exhibition, organized by the General Eye and Low Vision Centre, was successfully held in early April and set an uplifting tone for the anniversary year.

A Dynamic Tour Across Four Districts
The Mobile Truck Exhibition visited different districts across Hong Kong over two consecutive weekends on April 4 and 5, as well as April 11 and 12. The tour covered key areas in Hong Kong including Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, and Sha Tin, attracting the attention of the public wherever it stopped. Over the four-day campaign, the exhibition successfully reached more than 5,500 participants. Through direct engagement and meaningful conversations with our staff, the general public gained a deeper understanding of our services and the needs of people with visual impairment, while further promoting the values of inclusion and a barrier‑free society.

Learning Through Interaction: Safeguarding your vision
The core mission of this outreach initiative was to reach out to the community and share the importance of eye care. We believe that caring for vision begins not with formal instruction, but with genuine engagement and understanding. With this in mind, the Mobile Truck Exhibition introduced a variety of interactive games, inviting adults and children to learn together in a joyful and relaxed setting. Through laughter, curiosity, and shared moments, participants were gently encouraged to take their first steps towards protecting their eye health.
Every interaction and every participant’s smile became the driving force for us to continue our journey. This exhibition was more than a celebratory anniversary event. It was our commitment to promoting eye care awareness and safeguarding the health of the “Windows to the soul”. Looking ahead, We will continue to journey alongside the community, bringing light and care to more lives.
