Social Worker Mr. Hui Kai Chung from Career Support and Development Centre shared frontline service experience, noting that employers are often hesitant to hire people with visual impairment due to a lack of understanding. In this regard, HKSB plays a bridging role by proactively introducing the strengths and capabilities of its members to employers during the referral process, and providing job matching recommendations. HKSB also offers comprehensive support to employers, including adaptive equipment loan services, workplace accessibility assessments, and assistance in applying for relevant resources, with a view to facilitating suitable workplace arrangements and enhancing employers’ confidence in hiring.

In addition, HKSB encourages people with visual impairment to develop a clear understanding of their abilities and career direction, and to demonstrate their competencies through practical examples, thereby strengthening communication with employers and improving job matching outcomes.

The seminar highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration. HKSB will continue to work closely with employers and stakeholders to promote inclusive employment, support people with visual impairment in realizing their potential, and foster a diverse and inclusive workforce.
