Highlights of the Experiential Sports Programme for the Visually Impaired
The Hong Kong Society for the Blind has always been dedicated to breaking physical limitations and discovering potential of visually impaired. Through the "Jockey Club Experiential Sports Programme for the Visually Impaired", we provide diverse inclusive sporting opportunities for our visually impaired friends.

Regarding outdoor experiences, we held "Hiking Days" to lead participants up to Brick Hill (Nam Long Shan) and Devil's Peak. Through audio descriptions from our staff and one-on-one guidance from volunteers, the coastal breezes, historical ruins, and scenery along the way were transformed into a rich sensory experience, allowing participants to "see" the beauty of nature. Indoors, during the "Social Dance Class", participants moved to the music with gentle cues and support from volunteers. This not only built trust between dance partners but also expanded their social circles.

Furthermore, we explored emerging sports such as "Kettlebell and Rope Flow," emphasizing their accessibility and lack of space constraints to encourage participants to develop home fitness habits. For the "Darts Training Course", the instructor specially designed auxiliary tools such as indicator bricks to help participants master the sense of distance. After four sessions of training, students showcased their exquisite throwing skills and confidence during the competition in the final lesson.
We are grateful for the support of all coaches, volunteers, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. We will continue to promote accessible sports and accompany our visually impaired friends in overcoming obstacles to embrace a healthy life.
