Reinterpreted as a Journey of Overcoming Obstacles and Pursuing Goals

Guo Jian mentioned that living far away is not a big problem. He believes that if he can overcome the difficulties he faces, he can also bridge the gap between himself and his dreams.  Guo Jian has had poor vision since he was young, with only one-fourth of normal vision remaining.  This has affected his studies and work, and he often faced doubts and questions from colleagues and clients.  However, Guo Jian didn't give up.  He stayed positive, faced challenges with a proactive attitude, and worked hard to prove himself.

In 2021, Guo Jian joined the Career Support and Development Centre (CSDC) of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, which provides employment support and training for visually impaired people.  After completing their training courses and internships, Guo Jian got an opportunity to work in a temporary position for three months.  During his free time, he continued to take part-time courses at the CSDC to improve his skills and confidence, such as basic computer operations and vocational Japanese.  Eventually, he was hired as a full-time customer service assistant at Bernard van Zuiden Health Massage and Treatment Centre. 

Currently, Guo Jian handles various tasks at the Centre, including cashier, answering phone calls, scheduling massage appointments, and welcoming customers.  He also assists visually impaired massage practitioners to prepare towels, maintaining clean and comfortable massage rooms, and produce promotional materials.  Recently, he has started leading visually impaired massage practitioners to provide massage services outside the Centre.  Guo Jian's positive attitude and hard work have allowed him to progress from being someone who receives help to someone who helps others.

Guo Jian's story teaches us that no matter how big the challenges are, we can overcome them and achieve our dreams if we remain determined and work hard.  His story is an inspiration for others, showing that with a positive mindset, we can accomplish great things.
