2012 Marathon Charity Concert
The 2012 Marathon Charity Concert organized by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Parents Resource Centre for Visually Impaired Children (PRC), was successfully held on 25 and 26 February 2012 at Metro Plaza, Kwai Fong.
The Kick-off Ceremony was organized in the afternoon of 25 February, 2012, We were grateful to Mrs Cecilia Yuen, Assistant Director, Rehabilitation and Medical Social Branch of Social Welfare Department for her attendance as Chief Officiating Guest at the Kick-off Ceremony. Apart from musical performance, there were charity sales and experiential games. By taking part in the experiential games, the participants were able to get a better understanding about the abilities and needs of visually impaired persons.
The 2012 Marathon Charity Concert was the sixth of its kind since it was first held in 2004. It provided a good platform for the public to understand the music talent of visually impaired persons, as well as a chance for music exchange between the sighted and visually impaired persons.
The Marathon Charity Concert had brought more than 200 performers, both sighted and visually impaired, on stage. A total sum of around HK$100,000 had been raised for financing further service development of PRC.
We are indebted to the staunch support of the Co-organizers: Success Piano Company, Energy@Candy’s Music and SHK Volunteer Team, and sponsorship of the Metro Plaza as venue for the Concert by the SHK Property.
