Introduction
The Factory for the Blind is one of the service departments operated by the Hong Kong Society for the Blind and is the only Factory for the blind in Hong Kong. Since its establishment in 1963, the Factory has not only provided blind and disabled workers with sheltered employment, but also dignity and a training ground for further career advancement
Services Objectives
To provide sheltered employment and with job training to people with visual impairment and other disabilities, and hopefully they can become contributing members of the society. In addition, a variety of social and recreational activities would be organized regularly for their personal development.
I. Production Lines and Sections
1. Paper Box Section
- Corrugated carton boxes with various sizes and logo printing
- Design and production of all types of die-cut box
- Corrugated/Card board paper trays of all sizes
- Card board plan holders of all sizes & shapes (For architectural uses)
2. Sewing Section
- All kinds of industrial and school uniforms such as overalls, T-shirts, coats, windbreaker, caps, etc.
- All kinds of environmental bags, fabrics/nylon/canvas bags/non-woven bags, laundry bags, coins bags, etc.
- Bedding items and table matt.
- Silk-screening services
- Embroidery services
3. Filing Tag Section
- Green lace or rubber band filing tag with various lengths
- Telephone neckband with company logo
4. Sheltered Workshop
- Assembling and packaging
- Necklace assembling
- Letter-shopping
- Airline headset cleaning and repackaging
- Airline menu sorting and recycling
- Laundry services
5. Others
- Provision of souvenirs for various purposes
- Wooden frame for calendars
- Provision of cotton rags
- Pad-printing services
- Transportation services
- Provision of diaper for the elderly
II Social Activities
The Factory regularly organizes a variety of social activities such as interests groups, annual outing, competitions and recreational activities for our service users. A Leisure Corner, equipped with desk-top computers, books and recreational games, are also available during recess times.
