Introduction Established in 1984, the General Eye and Low Vision Centre is one of the service departments operated by the Hong Kong Society for the Blind. Branch of the Centre, General Eye and Low Vision Clinic, was set up in Yuen Long in 2001. They provide high quality medical eye care and low vision services to the general public and the visually impaired.
Objectives To provide comprehensive ophthalmological and optometrical services to prevent blindness through early detection and treatment of eye diseases, and an optometrical low vision service to enhance the residual vision of the visually impaired.
Target Group People of different ages, including children, students, adults and those who are suffering from visual disorders and visual impairment.

Low Vision Assessment and Low Vision Devices Dispensing 5. Squint and Amblyopia Management 6. Spectacles and Contact Lenses Services 7. Medical subsidy for eye surgical operation for patients with genuine financial hardship 8. Vision Screening by mobile Vision Screening Bus (VSB)

Fee Charges The Centre charges reasonable fees for consultation, medication and surgeries. These fees are much lower than those charged by a private clinic. Recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance can receive partial or full subsidies for eye examinations, medications, surgeries, eye glasses and low vision devices.
