Talk on Deafblind Aged how to use hearing aids on (25/11/2006)

As more people survive into older age, the incidence of sight and hearing loss is growing. Hearing loss is very common among the aged.  Many people with this condition could be helped by hearing aids.  However, their condition may not be improved when they do not know how to use hearing aids properly or cannot accept daily life with using hearing aids.  Also, it is getting worse when they get used to the old hearing aid and cannot adapt to the new one. They suffer but their families may not know how to help them.

Deafblind Resource Centre hold some talks with different topics for our Deafblind members, their families and carers periodically.  We invited the professionals from the Tseung Kwan O Centre of the Hong Kong Society for the Deaf to talk about Deafblind aged how to use hearing aids, how to get used to new hearing aids and what assistive aids can ease the daily living problems caused by hearing and sight impairment. This talk could help the families and carers of the deafblind aged to know more about what difficulties they are facing and how to handle the problems.
