Community-based Support and Respite Service for the Visually Impaired

Objectives


  • To provide residential care or respite beds for the people with visual impairments and other handicaps.

  • To organize group training and render supportive services to enhance the caring skills of the residents¡¦ family members or carers, to build up their supportive network for provision of better care to the disabled.


Target Group

Photo
  • Aged 16 or above

  • Visually Impaired persons will be given priority

  • Free from active infectious diseases

  • Suitable for group living

Application Procedures

Applications can be made through family service centers of the Social Welfare Department , medical social work services, special schools and other welfare agencies or direct contact with the Hong Kong Society for The Blind at 2778 8332 ext 304 or 335, by fax at 2777 6559.

Discharge Procedures

Service users are required to give at least one month's notice or in lieu of payment to apply for discharge. If service users are no longer meeting the admission criteria or their behaviour puts other service users at risk, after intervention by social worker which turns out in vain, they will be asked to leave the service.
