Introduction
To create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities, the Barrier Free Access Technology Service Unit (BFATS) has been established since 16th December 2004, thanks to the SWD who has made a grant available from the “Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small Enterprise”. In addition, BFATS aims to produce suitable braille and tactile products for customers, so as to build a safe and barrier free environment for people with visual impairment.
Our Services
BFATS is aimed at providing one-stop services ranging from consultancy services to design, supply and installation of tactile products. There is a wide product range to meet the various requirements of customers :
- Provision of various tactile flooring materials
- Design and install Tactile Guide Paths
- Design and install Tactile Maps with or without audio device
- Wall-mounted braille stainless steel plates for handrail or braille signs for handrail
- Braille guide books / manuals
- Braille name cards
- Call Centre for telemarketing services
We have a team of professional experts who, with their professional knowledge and abundant experience in services for people with visual impairment, ready to given their expert advice on the requirement of the design of appropriate environments for people with visual impairment based on the Design Manual: Barrier Free Access 1997 issued by the Building Department. Our recommended designs are supported by test results and feedbacks obtained from the user groups.
