Established in 1956, the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, (hereafter
called the Society), is a government subvented voluntary agency
dedicated to the well-being of the visually impaired people in Hong
Kong. In the past years, the Society has been providing comprehensive
educational, rehabilitation, vocational training, medical, social
and residential services to visually impaired clients in Hong Kong.
The services of the Society are grouped under four divisions, They
are the Finance and Administration, Research and Development, Rehabilitation
and Residential Services Divisions. The Finance and Administration
Division includes the Accounts and Administration Departments, the
Factory for the Blind, the Adaptive Equipment Service Unit and the
Barrier Free Access Technology Service Unit. The Research and Development
Division includes the General Eye and Low Vision Centre, Low Vision
Resource Centre, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Parents Resource Centre for Visually Impaired
Children, Consultancy Service Unit and Career Development, Training
and Public Education Centre. As for the Rehabilitation Division,
it includes the Rehabilitation Centre, the Centralized Braille Production
Centre and the Information Accessibility Centre. The Residential
Services Division operates six Homes and Hostel viz. the Yuen Long
Home for the Aged Blind, the Jocky Club Tuen Mun Home for the Aged
Blind, the Kowloon Home for the Aged Blind, the Bradbury Care and
Attention Home for the Aged Blind, the Morning Glory Day Activity
Centre cum Hostel and the Bradbury Home. It also includes the Health
Massage and Treatment Centre and Deaf Blind Rehabilitation Service.

agencies, the introduction and development of services and the efficient
deployment of resources.

which houses the Central Administration office and most other direct
